Cheap THCA shake and trim: price per gram, Oct. 2026
Straight answer
Shake and trim are the lowest-priced THCA flower by the gram. Here is the Oct. 2, 2026 price band, what is actually in the bag, and how to work out the price per usable gram before you buy.

THCA shake and trim are the cheapest THCA flower you can buy by the gram: $0.22 to $0.99 a gram ($100 to $450 a pound) in public online listings on Oct. 2, 2026. The catch is in the bag, not on the label: more stem, more leaf, faster drying and, sometimes, no lab report you can match to it.

Shake price per gram, Oct. 2, 2026
| Grade | Per pound | Per ounce of weight (lb ÷ 16) | Per gram (lb ÷ 453.6) |
|---|---|---|---|
| Shake / trim | $100 to $450 | $6.25 to $28.13 | $0.22 to $0.99 |
| Next grade up: smalls | $160 to $550 | $10.00 to $34.38 | $0.35 to $1.21 |
| Greenhouse or light-dep buds | $300 to $900 | $18.75 to $56.25 | $0.66 to $1.98 |
Shake sits at the bottom, but the bands overlap. Shake from an indoor lot at $450 a pound costs more per gram than greenhouse buds at $300. The grade name sets the band. The lot sets where inside it.
What is in a bag of shake
| Part | Where it comes from | What it means for you |
|---|---|---|
| Broken bud | Buds that crumble in drying, bagging and shipping | The part you are paying for |
| Sugar leaf | Small leaves around the bud, often frosted | Smokes harsher, tests lower than bud |
| Fan leaf and stem | Missed at sorting | Weight with nothing in it |
| Kief | Trichomes that knock loose and settle | A small bonus at the bottom of the bag |
| Seeds | Pollinated plants | Weight, and a harsh pop if you miss one |
Trim is a different product: leaf cut off on purpose at the trimming table, with little or no bud. Sellers who list “shake/trim” as one item may ship either. Ask which, and ask for a photo of the actual lot.
What you get, what you don’t
What you get: the lowest sticker price per gram, flower that is already broken up for rolling, and a format where looks stop mattering once it goes into butter or oil.
What you don’t: even quality, whole buds, or shelf life. Loose material has far more surface open to air, so it dries and loses smell faster than whole flower. Shake swept from several bins can have no single lot and no COA at all.
The price per usable gram
The sticker counts everything in the bag. Stem and seed weigh something and smoke like nothing. Sift a sample through a fine screen, weigh what stays behind, and divide.
| Sticker price per lb | Stem and seed (example) | Usable grams of 453.6 | Sticker $/g | Real $/g |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| $150 | 5% | 430.9 | $0.33 | $0.35 |
| $200 | 12% | 399.2 | $0.44 | $0.50 |
| $300 | 20% | 362.9 | $0.66 | $0.83 |
These are worked examples inside the Oct. 2, 2026 band, not anyone’s offer. The $300 bag at 20% stem costs more per usable gram than the low end of the smalls band.
Price per gram of total THC
Shake from broken bud and leafy trim can sit under the same name and test very differently. Put the COA number into the math:
| Example | Price per lb | Total THC on COA | Grams of total THC per lb | $ per gram of total THC |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Bud-heavy shake | $250 | 14% | 63.5 | $3.94 |
| Leafy trim | $150 | 6% | 27.2 | $5.51 |
Total THC is THCA x 0.877 + delta-9 THC. On these example numbers the cheaper bag is the worse buy.
Checks before you pay for shake
- A lot code on the listing, and a COA with the same code. “Mixed shake” with no lot has no lab report that describes it.
- A full panel, not potency alone: pesticides, heavy metals, microbials and mycotoxins. Loose material picks up whatever was on the trimming table and in the bin.
- Water activity or moisture. Wet shake weighs more and molds faster; very dry shake has lost smell.
- Photos of the lot itself, spread on a tray. Look for stem length and seeds.
- Shake or trim? Get it in writing.
What THCA Place sells instead
As of Oct. 3, 2026 we list four grades: smalls, greenhouse, light-dep and indoor. We do not sell shake or trim. Smalls is our lowest-priced grade, sold as whole buds with the COA for its Batch on the product page. See every pound on the menu, and read how we check lab reports on Lab reports on every pound.
Cheap shake has the same end date
Price does not change the legal test. As of Oct. 3, 2026, federal hemp is defined by delta-9 THC alone under 7 U.S.C. 1639o. From Dec. 11, 2026, the definition counts total THC, THCA included, at 0.3% by dry weight, under the November 2025 amendment summarized in CRS IF13136, with the date set by H.R. 6500. Leafy trim at 6% total THC is 20 times over that line. It stops counting as hemp the same day as indoor buds. State law may already close the hemp-retail lane where you live, and THCA flower is not legal in all 50 states; check yours before ordering.

Questions
- How much does THCA shake cost?
- In public listings from 15 online sellers read on Oct. 2, 2026, shake and trim ran $100 to $450 a pound. That is $0.22 to $0.99 a gram, or $6.25 to $28.13 per ounce of weight inside the pound.
- What is the difference between THCA shake and trim?
- Shake is loose bud and sugar leaf that breaks off in handling, drying and packing. Trim is leaf cut off the buds on purpose. Shake usually carries more broken bud, so it tends to test higher than leafy trim.
- Is cheap THCA shake worth it?
- For rolling and cooking, often yes, if it names its lot and has a COA for that lot. Count stem and seed before you compare: shake that is 12% stem and seed costs about 14% more per usable gram than its sticker says.
- Does THCA Place sell shake?
- No. As of Oct. 3, 2026, THCA Place lists four grades: smalls, greenhouse, light-dep and indoor. Smalls is the lowest-priced grade.
