How to build a mixed box of THCA flower

Straight answer

One order, several lots: four box plans that make sense, what mixing grades does to the blended price, and the checks that keep a mixed box from becoming a mixed-up box.

A single large hemp plant inside a greenhouse

A mixed box is one order split across two or more strains or grades, usually as half pounds (HP), instead of one pound (LB) of a single lot. You manage more than one lot, and in exchange you get variety, a cheap way to test a new lot, and a blended price you control by choosing the grades.

Last checked Oct. 3, 2026. Example prices below are taken from public market bands of Oct. 2, 2026 to show the math. They are not THCA Place prices; ours are on each product page.

What mixing grades does to the price

The grade of each bag moves a mixed box’s price far more than anything else. Per-gram bands from public listings on Oct. 2, 2026:

Swap in the box Typical effect on that bag’s price per gram
An HP of smalls becomes an HP of indoor Often double or more
An HP of indoor becomes an HP of greenhouse Often a third to a half less
One strain becomes another strain of the same grade Usually small; hype strains cost more

So mix strains freely and watch grades closely.

Four box plans that make sense

Plan 1: the two-strain pound

Two HP bags of the same grade, different strains. Both bags sit in one price band, and you are not stuck with one smell for weeks.

Good for: anyone buying a pound a month who gets bored of one strain.

Plan 2: try before you commit

One HP of a lot you already know, one HP of a lot you have never tried. If the new lot is good, the next order is a full LB of it. If not, you lost half a pound of variety, not a pound of regret.

Good for: first orders from a new seller, or a new grade.

Plan 3: the grade blend

One HP of indoor and one HP of greenhouse or smalls. Here is the math with example numbers from the Oct. 2, 2026 market bands:

Bag Example price Grams Price per gram
HP greenhouse $230 226.8 $1.01
HP indoor $520 226.8 $2.29
Box total $750 453.6 $1.65 blended

You get a pound at $1.65 a gram on average, with half of it indoor. Two bags of that indoor instead would run $1,040, or $2.29 a gram.

Good for: keeping the better bag for when you want it, and the cheaper bag for everyday.

Plan 4: the two-pound shelf

One LB of a cheap grade you go through fast, plus two HP of something different. Most of the weight sits at the lowest price per gram, and the HP bags break up the routine.

Good for: heavier buyers who already know their everyday lot.

Box plans side by side

Plan Bags Total weight Main saving Main catch
Two-strain pound 2 HP, same grade 1 LB One price band, two smells Two lots to check
Try before you commit 2 HP, one known, one new 1 LB Avoids a bad full pound The new lot may disappoint
Grade blend 1 HP higher grade, 1 HP lower 1 LB Blended price Easy to blend upward by accident
Two-pound shelf 1 LB + 2 HP 2 LB Most weight in the cheapest grade More flower to store well

Check every lot, not just the box

A mixed box is two to four separate Batches in one order. Each needs its own paperwork.

  1. One COA per bag. The lot code on each bag must match its own lab report.
  2. Read total THC on each. THCA x 0.877 + delta-9. Two HP bags of “the same grade” can differ by several points.
  3. Weigh each bag on its own. A half pound is 226.8 g. A pound is 453.6 g. Weigh them separately, so a short bag cannot hide behind a heavy one.
  4. Check the grade label. Smalls should say smalls. If a bag looks different from its listing, photograph it before opening the next one.

Storing a mixed box

  • Keep each lot in its own sealed bag or jar. Mixing lots in one container ruins your ability to tell which one you liked, and which one to report if something is wrong.
  • Label each with strain, lot code and the date you opened it.
  • Cool, dark and airtight. Many buyers add a two-way humidity pack in the 58% to 62% range.
  • Open one bag at a time. The sealed one keeps better than the open one.

Ordering a mixed box at THCA Place

Every Product here comes in two Weight Options, HP and LB, and you can mix them across any strains in all pounds. Add what you want and send one Order Request. An Operator calls, checks stock for each lot and confirms the price, and the price is locked on that call. You pay after that, using the Payment Preference you agreed. If a lot is short, the Operator tells you on the call so you can swap before anything is confirmed. The steps are on How to order.

Size the box to the calendar

Federal law changes on Dec. 11, 2026. As of Oct. 3, 2026, the hemp definition tests delta-9 THC only (7 U.S.C. 1639o). The November 2025 amendment counts total THC including THCA at 0.3% dry weight, summarized in CRS IF13136, and H.R. 6500 set its start for THCA at Dec. 11, 2026. From then, ordinary THCA flower is not hemp under federal law. Build a box you will finish, not one meant to carry you past that date. State law may already be stricter where you live; THCA flower is not legal in every state. Check before you order.

Questions

What is a mixed box of THCA flower?
A mixed box is one order split across two or more strains or grades, usually in half-pound (HP) bags, instead of one pound of a single lot. You get variety and a cheaper way to try a new lot.
How does mixing grades change the price of a box?
More than anything else in the box. Swapping a half pound of smalls for a half pound of indoor can double what that bag costs. The number to watch is the blended price: total paid divided by total grams across every bag.
Does each half pound in a mixed box have its own COA?
It should. Each bag comes from its own Batch, so each one needs a lab report whose lot code matches that bag. Check them one by one.
How should I store a mixed box?
Keep each lot sealed in its own bag or jar, labeled with strain, lot code and the date you opened it, somewhere cool and dark. Open one at a time.
