How much does THCA flower cost? Price per gram and per ounce, Oct. 2026
Straight answer
Five grades, five price-per-gram bands, and the three numbers that let you compare any two offers: price per gram, price per usable gram, and price per gram of total THC.

THCA flower cost between about $0.22 and $3.53 a gram in public online listings on Oct. 2, 2026, which is roughly $6 to $100 per ounce of weight. Grade explains most of that spread: shake sits at the bottom, budget smalls run $0.35 to $1.21 a gram, and exotic indoor sits at the top.

Price bands by grade, Oct. 2, 2026
| Grade | Per gram | Per ounce of weight | Listed as |
|---|---|---|---|
| Shake / trim | $0.22 to $0.99 | $6.25 to $28.13 | $100 to $450 per lb |
| Smalls (budget, light-assist) | $0.35 to $1.21 | $10.00 to $34.38 | $160 to $550 per lb |
| Greenhouse, light-dep, mixlight full buds | $0.66 to $1.98 | $18.75 to $56.25 | $300 to $900 per lb |
| Commercial indoor | $1.10 to $2.87 | $31.25 to $81.25 | $500 to $1,300 per lb |
| Exotic indoor | $2.20 to $3.53 | $62.50 to $100.00 | $1,000 to $1,600 per lb (one seller to $2,125) |
Most online sellers in this sample list by the pound, so the gram and ounce columns are the pound price divided by 453.6 and by 16. An ounce bag bought on its own costs more than its share of a pound. These columns put any offer, of any size, on the same yardstick.
For history: Hemp Benchmarks put the average wholesale THCA flower price at $922 a pound in May 2024, as reported by Green Market Report. That number is more than two years old. The budget end has dropped since, because sub-$400 smalls and mixlight became common.
Weights, so the math works
| Size | Grams | Ounces |
|---|---|---|
| Ounce | 28.35 | 1 |
| Quarter pound (QP) | 113.4 | 4 |
| Half pound (HP) | 226.8 | 8 |
| Pound (LB) | 453.6 | 16 |
Ounce price vs pound: why bigger bags cost less per gram
Every bag costs the seller the same to weigh, seal, label, pack and hand to a carrier, whatever is inside. Sell one pound instead of sixteen ounces and those costs happen once.
One seller’s public grid on Oct. 2, 2026 shows how steep the ladder is:
| Size | Listed price range | Works out to, per pound |
|---|---|---|
| Quarter pound | $150 to $350 | $600 to $1,400 |
| Half pound | $250 to $675 | $500 to $1,350 |
| Pound | $500 to $1,300 | $500 to $1,300 |
The jump from QP to HP saved up to 17% per pound in that grid. The jump from HP to LB saved less, 0% to 4%. That pattern is common: the biggest saving is getting out of small bags, not going from a half to a whole.
The three numbers that compare any two offers
1. Price per gram
Divide the price by the grams. A $400 pound is $400 ÷ 453.6 = $0.88 a gram. A $230 half pound is $230 ÷ 226.8 = $1.01 a gram. Same grade, the pound is 13% cheaper per gram.
2. Price per usable gram
Stems, seeds and extra moisture weigh something and smoke like nothing. If 5% of that $400 pound is stem, you have 430.9 usable grams, and the real price is $0.93 a gram. Smalls and shake usually carry more stem than big buds. A 5% gap matters more than a $10 discount.
3. Price per gram of total THC
This is the number for comparing grades. Multiply the grams by the total THC % on the COA (THCA x 0.877 + delta-9).
| Offer | Price | Total THC on COA | Grams of total THC | Price per gram of total THC |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Greenhouse pound | $400 | 16% | 72.6 | $5.51 |
| Indoor pound | $900 | 24% | 108.9 | $8.27 |
The indoor pound has 50% more THC on paper and costs 125% more. That does not make greenhouse better. Indoor often brings more terpenes, denser buds and a better look. It does tell you exactly what the extra money buys.
What moves the price inside one grade
- Potency. Higher THCA on the COA lifts the price, usually more than it should.
- Terpenes. Strong smell sells. Terpene % is on most full COAs.
- Harvest age. Last season’s lot gets marked down to clear space.
- Bud size. Smalls from the same lot sell below the big buds.
- Strain demand. Hype strains cost more for reasons that have nothing to do with the lab report.
- Seller model. Wholesale-only desks, retail shops and farms price differently for the same weight.
- What is included. Shipping, adult-signature delivery and payment fees can sit inside the price or on top of it.
What the Dec. 11, 2026 rule does to prices
As of Oct. 3, 2026, federal law tests hemp by delta-9 THC alone (7 U.S.C. 1639o). Congress rewrote the definition in November 2025 to count total THC, THCA included, at 0.3% dry weight (CRS IF13136), and H.R. 6500, signed Sept. 2, 2026, made that rule start on Dec. 11, 2026 for THCA. A pound at 16% total THC is more than 50 times over the new limit.
Every price in the table above is a price for flower with a fixed end date. Two effects pull in opposite directions until then. Sellers need to move stock, which pushes some prices down. Growers are not planting more, which keeps supply thin. We do not forecast which wins. Compare the offer in front of you with the three numbers above, and buy what you will use.
State law is separate. Many states already close the hemp-retail lane for THCA flower. It is not legal in all 50 states. Check yours first.

Questions
- How much does THCA flower cost?
- In public listings from 15 online sellers checked on Oct. 2, 2026, THCA flower ran from about $0.22 a gram for shake to $3.53 a gram for exotic indoor. Budget smalls sat at $0.35 to $1.21 a gram, greenhouse and light-dep buds at $0.66 to $1.98, and commercial indoor at $1.10 to $2.87.
- How much is an ounce of THCA flower?
- Spread across a pound, the Oct. 2, 2026 bands work out to about $6 to $28 an ounce of weight for shake, $10 to $34 for smalls, $19 to $56 for greenhouse and light-dep, and $31 to $100 for indoor. Ounce bags sold on their own cost more than that, because packing and shipping costs repeat with every bag.
- Why is a pound cheaper per gram than an ounce?
- Selling one bag of 453.6 grams costs a seller far less in packing, labor and shipping than selling sixteen ounce bags. In one seller's public grid on Oct. 2, 2026, a quarter pound worked out to $600 to $1,400 per pound and a full pound cost $500 to $1,300.
- Will THCA flower prices drop before December 11, 2026?
- Nobody can promise that. Sellers have to clear high-THCA stock before the federal total-THC rule takes effect on Dec. 11, 2026, which may push some prices down, but supply is also shrinking. Judge each offer on its own numbers.
